Thunder Bay

The Thunder Bay Canada Summer Games were defined by an intense series of competitions that saw 18 records broken in track and field and swimming. Nova Scotia, for its part, dominated nearly every canoeing event. Overall, the 1981 Canada Summer Games were a testament to the significant potential of young Canadian athletes.

Led by coach Rod Wilson, New Brunswick’s baseball team wins the bronze medal. A level III coach and scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, Wilson was also a remarkable educator, having been named Canadian Teacher of the Year.
