Niagara

From August 6 to 21, the Ontario Niagara Region welcomed more than 5,000 participants to compete in the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games. The competition featured 18 different sports, including an inaugural rugby sevens competition (women’s only) and the return of lacrosse after a 37-year absence from the Games (1985). The 28th edition of the Canada Games also marked the third time in history the event has taken place in the province of Ontario and the first time in 21 years. The Games were orignially scheduled to be held in August 2021 but were postponed as a reult of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his third participation at the Canada Games, Jesse Canney lead the way with one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals in swimming. Combining this with two silvers and one bronze in 2017, Jesse is the most decorated medalists in Team NB history.
