Halifax-Dartmouth

Summer Games

The first Canada Summer Games took place in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Several improvements were introduced, both to the events and to mechanisms that support them: the Friends of the Games Society and the Canada Games Council came into being, along with new protocols for the awards ceremonies. Significant, too, was the equal share formula for capital expenditures that emerged between federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
