Cape Breton

Winter Games

Despite worries over scattered venues and lack of facilities, the island region of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia nevertheless hosted the sixth Canada Winter Games in 1987. The populace of the island banded together in a show of its own brand of Canadian “can do” to make the Games a success. Staging the Eastern Lights Festival alongside the Winter Games made the experience unique and charming for athletes and islanders alike.
